Oftentimes at the house we hop from one event to the next, trying to find pockets of rest in between. In reality those in between times are filled with helping others, hosting guests, and finding solutions to problems that come unannounced to our doorstep. Not everything requires our full attention and participation, but it does require our presence. This can sometimes result in late nights, early mornings, and impromptu large meals. This is not a complaint on our part but a reality of the life of ministry here. When it feels as if we can’t go one more step for the Lord, we turn to Isaiah 40:29-31 which says, “He gives strength to the weary, and to him who lacks might He increases power. Though youths grow weary and tired, and vigorous young men stumble badly, yet those who wait for the Lord will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, they will walk and not become weary.” We might be physically tired, but we are spiritually satisfied because our rest comes from the Lord. That is far greater than being physically rested but spiritually tired. Thankfully God provides both physical and spiritual rest, we need but just ask.
