Right now, we are all in a season of waiting. Whether it’s staying at home, continuing to work, looking for “normalcy”, needing another job, wanting to hug a grandkid, we all are waiting for something to happen in the future. Kristen and I in a way have been waiting to get to Marseille for close to a decade (Kristen’s first trip was 2011, mine in 2012). If God chooses to push back our launch a few more months, we choose to trust in his wisdom. Scripture is full of those who wait: Joseph waited 15 years for his dream fulfilled, David waited 20 years to be king of all Israel, Moses had to wait in a desert 40 years before leading people out of Egypt, Mary waited 30 years to see the fulfillment of Jesus as Messiah, the Hebrew people waited 40 years before seeing the Promised Land. If anything, scripture has taught us we must wait. Psalm 37:7 says, “Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way…” This reminds us to not focus on the good or bad choices of others but continue focusing on God who’s in control of all. Kristen and I can’t control lockdowns or stay-at-home orders, but we can continue to seek God’s wisdom in preparing us for Marseille. The other scripture God gives us is Isaiah 40:31 saying, but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. Marseille is going to be a deep and weary challenge. Our family is choosing to find rest and renew our strength for what God has next. We pray you are doing the same.
