We’ve been told more than a few times as we share about our journey to Marseille, “wow, I wish I had faith like yours.” The reality is you can. We’re no more special than the next Christian. We didn’t discover some secret faith that lets us do things. Our faith is tied into our understanding of who God is. We sometimes need to take a step back and remember what faith is and isn’t. It’s not some holy hoping the best works out or a mindless stab in the dark. It’s a word that expresses reasoned, careful, deliberate, intentional thought. It’s confident assurance in events that are not yet seen. Hebrews 11:1 spells it out saying, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Faith is not merely believing in God but believing God. Our level of faith is tied to the object of our faith: Jesus Christ. When you have a bigger view of Jesus, you will have bigger faith and bigger confidence in what you can accomplish. Had our own faith been little because we didn’t fully understand or believe in a God who can overcome everything, we would have quit by now or said, “we tried our best, but France is closed”. Thankfully verses like Romans 10:17 teach us about having that Hebrews type of faith, “So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.” Your own faithfulness in God has been reflected in your faithfulness of supporting us whether prayerfully, monetarily, or both. May you continue to seek God’s word so that your faith might grow.
