Why do we pray? Prayer isn’t some wishful thinking of our hopes and dreams. It’s effective and powerful communication with God Almighty. Prayer protects, provides, and pushes us closer to Him. It’s our avenue of confessing our sins, seeking wisdom beyond our own, and receiving peace that passes all understanding. Jesus was constantly praying, the disciples were always praying, and the scriptures continuously teach us to pray. If we want to be successful in our relationship with Jesus, build new ministries, or boldly share our faith, we must begin with our prayer life. 1 John 5:14-15 tell us, “And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.” Prayer guides us into God’s will and unites us in community. We all should be worrying less and praying more because when we actually pray more, we will truly worry less.
