Do you remember your childhood days (for some of us it might take a moment!)? The world was big and scary but also exciting and filled with moments of pure joy. Many days it feels as if our family is reliving the world through those same childlike eyes in our new home. It’s a big new place that feels a bit fearsome at times but has also brought out a sense of wonderment and delight in experiencing a new part of the world that God so wonderfully made. In Matthew 19:14, “Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.’” Jesus understood the pureness of those young trusting hearts. It reminds me of engaging with new believers. They have this open, unguarded excitement about Jesus. We as mature followers of Christ should engage more with them not just to disciple them, but that their joy might reignite our joy for following Jesus. Like the scriptures say, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17)
