One of our greatest tools in sharing the good news is our Christian love towards one another and the surrounding world. The world seeks to make unity through diversity without Christ’s love, and it fails every time. The love Christ bestows unifies us despite our differences. Colossians 3:14-15 says, “And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.” We’ve seen people’s lives changed because Christians from radically different walks of life took the time to love them and share the good news of Jesus. Most cultures say love your friends/family and fight the enemy. Our faith teaches us to love our enemy and pray for those who persecute us (Luke 6:27-28). The love and care we give towards those who are against us (especially Muslims in our case) begins to challenge their worldview and possibly make them rethink who this Jesus is that these Christians follow. We as believers can’t just say we love Muslims/the homeless/immigrants, but we must truly love and care for them through serving them and speaking God’s truth. May we all take heed of John’s call in 1 John 3:18 which says, “Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”
