No one thought by September our year would look like this. We all joked in January it would be clear vision because it’s 2020. Nobody planned to deal with Australian bushfires, a pandemic, protests, riots, UFO videos being released by the government, more tropical storms than we can count, and forest fires smothering the entire west, just to name a few. James 4:14 tells us “…you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.” We don’t get to predict what happens. By now we thought we’d be drinking French coffee, eating North African food, and talking about Jesus in broken French. What we’ve learned is it’s been more important to bend to the will of the Lord no matter what happens. James says we get to count it joy because it’s producing endurance in us. Job said the Lord gives and takes, and his name is to still be blessed. We’re choosing to take this moment to praise God for the setbacks in our timelines, the yes’s and no’s in our ministry, the monthly supporters, one-time donors, the good news received, and the bad news that brought sorrow. If we chose to look at each event through a Christian perspective, it will teach us more about this amazing Jesus and draw us closer to him. I pray you find the next wild moment of this year as an opportunity to look towards Jesus.
