As a self-professed lifetime learner, I don’t believe there’s a point in our life where we stop learning. The true question is are we humble enough to continue to learn in the situations God places us in or are we resistant in staying within our comfort zones. We have the ability to learn from our mistakes, other’s mistakes, friends, family, and even strangers. Proverbs 1:5 says, “A wise person will hear and increase in learning, and a person of understanding will acquire wise counsel,” We consumed a lot of books and information and listened to many people with experience in moving to a foreign country and adjusting to culture. It helped, but what truly has grown and matured us is the continued truth God’s word speaks into our lives when faced with adversity. Ecclesiastes 1:9 says there’s nothing new under the sun. The same problems happening to us are the same problems people faced thousands of years ago, just minor details have changed. The anger, frustration, fear, and anxiety we experience are combated with the patience, love, and kindness that only the Holy Spirit gives us. Even if it's a verse a day, read God’s word and pray. You will continue to grow and learn and glorify Him in whatever you do!
