Too often in life we think to ourselves "if I can just get through this season, or it will be easier once the kids are out the house, or it will be smoother once that promotion comes.” We continuously are trying to sprint from finish line to finish line when in reality our Christian lives are a marathon. Galatians 6:9 says, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” When we fret too much about the future, anxiety rears its head, and we miss out on the day-to-day moments God wants to use to bless us and grow us. The things we experience in the present are what God is using to prepare us for the future. Don’t rush through what God wants to do in the present, but embrace it like the book of James tells us. “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” James 1:2-4
