Jesus said in Matthew 9:37 that “the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.” It’s a reality to this day. Statistics show that an estimated 13% of evangelicals engage in tithing while only a slightly larger average of 20-40% actively serve in the church. If every American Christian tithed just 10%, there would be an extra $139 billion for furthering the Gospel. Why do we not invest in the kingdom? Often, it’s because our value system for investing is not the same as God’s. Luke 15:10 says, “In the same way, I tell you, there is rejoicing in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.” If one soul is saved after billions are spent, that’s a good return on investment. Giving our time, effort, money, and prayers means we’re trusting God to do the things he says he’ll do. We saw a ministry in France investing in the kingdom work that needed help, and we saw the value of investing our own lives into revitalizing this place knowing that if even just one is saved it’s worth it. Thankfully our God isn’t in the business of just saving one. We say this not to guilt you into giving more or serving multiple roles but to encourage you that investing in kingdom work is always worth it. May we all continue to engage, give, and pray knowing the value of investing in the kingdom.
