This virus has disrupted life as we know it. We are all in a season of uncertainty whether it’s with our jobs, school, health, family members, or even things like sports and entertainment ever coming back. Uncertainty is not something new. We as a family have experienced much uncertainty in our lives. We’ve had setbacks in starting a family, in our support raising, and even in our timelines of getting to France (God started the process of us being in France almost ten years ago!). It’s not that we haven’t had fear, anxiety, or momentary freak outs during those times. However, what we’ve learned is to look back on what God has done and be reminded that he has been with us every step of the way. We wrote down ways he provided for our family in moments of suffering, people we encountered on our journey who encouraged us, experiences and occurrences that helped shape our view of missions, even jobs that trained and grew us. We did this to look back at these moments during difficult times we would endure in Marseille, that we might be encouraged by what God has taken us through and will continue to take us through. It has surprisingly come in handy as we still prepare to be in France, and while we endure the uncertainty of this virus. Our reason for looking back comes from Psalm 77:11-14 which says “I shall remember the deeds of the Lord; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old. I will meditate on all Your work And muse on Your deeds. Your way, O God, is holy; What god is great like our God? You are the God who works wonders; You have made known Your strength among the peoples.” When we remember who God is and what he has done, we are reminded he is in control and does great things in the midst of great uncertainty.
