Many times in our Christian walk we encounter struggles or massive difficulties that cause us to be discouraged or even give up in our faith. It’s because for many of us we’ve truly forgotten to count the full cost of following Jesus. It’s a heavy cost (just read Luke 14:25-33). We research the jobs we want, the cars we drive, the houses we live in, and even the people we choose to marry. It should be the same with God. Our trust in him is built through continued wisdom and understanding. Our faith is built on firm foundations. God never wanted us to have a blind faith where we stumble in the dark on the next rock of conflict. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” We are to live out our faith in a way that has calculated the cost and is moving forward with confident assurance.
