God loves impossible odds. Little David had his slingshot against Goliath. Gideon gets only 300 men with no swords to fight an entire army. God tells his people in Leviticus 26 that just five will chase one hundred enemies and a hundred will chase ten thousand enemies. These are tasks that would break most people, but God uses this to show He’s in control. When it seems as if it was set up to fail, God uses these situations to point us to Him and glorify himself. David wins, Gideon’s crew wins, and Israel conquers giants to settle in the promised land. The only way for a positive outcome in those situations is if God intervenes. People then see who the true God is. I say all this because the day we sent our last letter saying France was opening their borders, we found out later that afternoon they would not open to the United States. Normally this would be a huge blow to us, but it’s not for a God who loves impossible odds. We know God will open a door for us to get to Marseille. It will be another moment to claim glory for God so more might come to believe in Him. I’m reminded of Psalm 115:1 which says, “Not to us, O Lord, not to us, But to Your name give glory Because of Your lovingkindness, because of Your truth.”
